The Ministry of Human Services & Social Security (MHSS) recently welcomed its 2023-2024 Young Influencers Programme (YIP) cohort. This diverse group of youths from across Guyana will work together to inspire change, have their voices heard on topics important to youths, and participate in national and international opportunities for youth development.

T’sehai and Xaria Holder

The YIP is a flagship program of the MHSS that was launched in 2019. The program is designed to empower young people to become agents of change in their communities. YIP participants are provided with training in leadership, advocacy, and project management. They also have the opportunity to participate in mentorship programs and to network with other young leaders.

The 2023-2024 YIP cohort includes 20 young people from across Guyana. The group is made up of students, entrepreneurs, and activists. They are passionate about a variety of issues, including education, climate change, and gender equality.

“We are excited to welcome this new cohort of young influencers to the YIP,” said Minister of Human Services & Social Security, Hon. Dr. Vindhya Persaud. “These young people are the future of Guyana, and we are committed to providing them with the tools and resources they need to make a difference in their communities.”

The YIP is a valuable opportunity for young people to learn new skills, build their networks, and make a difference in their communities. The MHSS is committed to supporting the YIP and helping to create a brighter future for Guyana’s youth.
