On Tuesday, May 31st, IDB Guyana Country Representative and Operations Chief Ms Lorena Solorzano Salazar along with IDB Private Sector Consultant Mr. Kaimlall Chattergoon, visited with STEMGuyana Executive Director, Karen Abrams at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall and discussed a range of topics pertaining to the success of the Learning Pods program which is funded in large part by the IDB organisation and the Tullow Oil company. The Learning pods program is a technology integrated academic enrichment program targeted to 1000 mostly vulnerable students, 50% of whom are girls, in currently 30 and soon to be 40 learning pod centres across all 10 regions of Guyana. The program is designed for 3 years, in 10 month sessions. Students currently attend sessions 2 days each week. Students receive technology integrated instruction in Maths, English, Science and Technology (coding & robotics) in after-school pods around the country.
