Teams At Melanie & Vigalstra Housing Co-op Join National Robot & Coding League

Georgetown, Guyana – May 14, 2018: STEMGuyana Master Trainers Aisha Peters and Stephanie Simon today guided students from two groups, ICT community hub Melanie Damishana and Vigalstra Housing Co-op Society building, through the introductory training program which will enable the young students to participate in the National STEM league.

The two teams will first go through the first scratch programming challenge for their participation in the ongoing STEM Guyana league competition.

Most of the club members are recent graduates of the First Lady’s ICT initiative, and they were eager to join the STEM League.  The students are from different schools around the East Coast area. The teams are composed of one all girls team and the other team including one boy within the all girls team.

STEMGuyana leaders are particularly excited about this development since the teams are using one of the ICT hubs rolled out by the Ministry Of Public Telecommunications.  “This could be a model that we use to expand the league across all ICT hubs”, declared MT Stephanie Simon.  “We are excited about these new teams”
