STEMGuyana Takes Robotics Program To St. John’s Orphanage
Plaisance, Guyana: January 20, 2018 – STEMGuyana Director, Mr Colin Sawh
has organized a one month robotics training program for the children of St John’s Orphanage. The program occurs each Saturday at 1pm and is in it’s third week of operation.
First Lady Sandra Granger donated the robot kit to Sister Julie Matthews of the St John’s program and arranged for the training to occur by STEMGuyana trainers and new members who volunteer their time to teach robot building and programming to the enthusiastic young students.
“Our goal is to prepare the young people to participate in our upcoming robotics league. We believe all children, wherever they are, should have the opportunity to prepare for the new technology future that awaits them and we will do everything within our power to help make that possible”, said Director Colin Sawh. ”
Next week will be the 4th and final Saturday of training. The students are currently sharing one robot, but need at least two more to allow more students to participate. STEMGuyana is seeking donations to raise funds for two additional robots for the St John’s program. Donors are asked to contact Mr Colin Sawh for more information at firstname.lastname@example.org. Today’s program was conducted by Mr Colin Sawh, Trainer Horace Moseley and new members Gewhan Lynch and Tenisha Walters.
