Ministry of Public Telecommunications Lends Substantive Support to Team Guyana Robotics
June 15, 2015 — Minister Cathy Hughes yesterday made a contribution of $500,000 GY to the STEMGuyana initiative. The funds will be used to pay the travel, room, board and food expenses for two of the nine team members who will be traveling to Washington DC on July 14 – July 19 to represent Guyana at the First Global Robotics competition. More than one hundred fifty teams representing the majority of countries and territories in the world will send teams to Washington DC to participate in this first ever global technology event.
STEMGuyana will be represented by Coach, Ricky Chan, Ministry of the Presidency, Department of Citizenship [Georgetown], Manager, Farnaz Baksh UG, [Industry], PR Representative, Horace Moseley, STEM Tutor, [Buxton] and the following players; Captain Ryan Benschop, Nations 6th form [Georgetown], Arrianna Mahase, UG, [Enmore], Anthony Frank, Diamond Secondary School [Kuru Kururu], Team Spokesperson, Vevekeanand Ramnarace [BHS] Mahaicony, Sahief Poese, UG [Timerhi], Christopher Nelson, GTI, Den Amstel.
STEMGuyana students were excited to host Minister Hughes and the initiative looks forward to a successful collaboration with the Ministry of Telecommunications in the future.
