Department of Youth representative Ms Safia Rafee presented an exciting robotics booth at the Essequibo Agro and Trade Expo, 2019 which was held at the Anna Regina Community Centre Ground. Participants representing local agricultural and processing companies, community members and police department representatives expressed their delight at the Department of Youth sponsored booth.
Ms Rafee, stated that her goal was to, “encourage the young people in Essequibo to take an interest in technology which will soon impact their lives, whether in agriculture, education or business in general.”
The Department of Youth has launched a national program to encourage unmatched youth across Guyana to join a STEM club where they will learn to collaborate, communicate and strengthen their critical skills while learning to build and program robots. The Department has plans to offer additional training in Maths enrichment, website and app development after the current batch of young people master their current training.
