- Georgetown, Guyana: May 12, 2018 — Belladrum is located in Mahaica-Berbice and is nearly 50 miles from Georgetown, yet club coach Ms Melissa Gordon made it a priority to enroll in STEM Guyana’s club coaching seminar to ensure that the youth in her community would not be left out of STEMGuyana tech. activities planned to prepare the next generation of Guyanese for a technology future.
“when we told the First Lady of Belladrum’s interest in creating a STEM club, she offered them one of a few kits which had been donated to her and a short time later, a group of very enthusiastic Belladrum supporters purchased 4 more kits for the STEM club”, noted Master Trainer Aisha Peters. The Belladrum club subsequently returned the kit to be donated to another club.
The Belladrum team is now fully on board and working on the two outstanding challenges which have already been released. The challenges were created under the theme of Climate Change and require that teams of five students each, use their collaboration, communication and critical thinking skills to solve the challenges, while strengthening their academic knowledge and technical skills.
STEMGuyana is happy to have Belladrum on board and looks forward to engaging more teams from all across Guyana.
